If you are worried your best bet is to replace your HD, and be sure to completely disassemble your HD including removal of the platters. Once the platters are removed bend them every which way. And contrary to what is stated here, (@malkav) a good rare earth magnet will completely kill those on/off switches. The myth is the running your drives through the xray at the airport. Best practice is to do a positive run then a negative run and all bits on the drive will be on and off on the reverse.
